I'm not exactly certain what happens to my days, other than they disappear very quickly. My husband is home this week and is trying to get a months worth of crap done, and work fulltime, in that time frame. And I don't mean little piddly crap, I mean tearing down the shed, putting up the fence for the cows, making huge financial decisions related to sheds and barns. Oh, and make decisions about the upstairs bathroom and wants that done by the end of June! Nope, can't do it the easy way, he has to try to do it all in a week, which makes for a very cranky man. And do I need to remind anybody that I'm almost 5 months pregnant and that in general makes me cranky?, let alone adding a cranky man to it? It ain't pretty.
I also am finding when it rains, it poors. I have to provide service to the poor for my job as a leader and well, am about to get fired if I don't do something. So I have applied at multiple places (shelters) and really wanted to go to the domestic abuse shelter, not the homeless shelter. So the domestic abuse shelter never got back to me so I sucked it up and went to the homeless shelter and wouldn't ya know? Now I've got them both calling looking for help! So I go today to the homeless shelter to help for a while and next week for training at the domestic abuse shelter and well, damn, my CEO should be really freakin' happy!!!

Moving beams
Something I hate? When a big ole' beam just jumps out of nowhere and smacks you in the head. I don't mean a 2x4, I mean a beam. As in a support beam of a barn. Now for those of you who may not know, old barns have lots of beams. Everywhere. Some of them are as big in diameter as my expanding waist, some of them smaller but still big enough that a grown man couldn't wrap both hands around it and touch fingers. Beams everywhere, sometimes no rhyme or reason. And if one isn't paying attention? They just jump up & "SMACK", right upside the head. And damn does it hurt.
I kid you not. I almost knocked myself on my ass in the barn this afternoon. Which would not have been cool for many reasons, primarily my husband happens to still be out of town and had I actually gone over backwards, there was a good chance I would have gone ass first down a hole into the floor below. Where mama cow and baby are housed at this time. The only saving grace would have been when I either woke up from knocking myself out or landed on the floor below, I had cell phones in my pockets and would have been able to call for help. Assuming I didn't break my neck.
Yup. Look out for moving beams. They're a bitch.

Nothing like the knowlededge that you're going to be parents in the next 6 months to make you realize a. how unprepared you are and b. how much stuff needs to get done prior to the bundle of joy making an appearance!
When we renovated the house, there was an ancient, florescent pink clawfoot bathtub in the upstairs bathroom. I had the great idea that it would be nice to eventually have the bathtub restored and put back in the bathroom so there was be something from the original house here. Well, that was before I became pregnant, when we had all the time in the world to worry about who was going to restore said bathtub and how much it was going to cost. Now that I'm pregnant, I obviously am not going to be doing much restoration to said bathtub and time is of essence. Needless to say, florescent pink clawfoot bathtub is probably going to become a garden ornament instead. Hence the perusing Home Depot and Lowe's for not only tile but for bathtubs that will now fit into the bathroom that was originally setup for a clawfoot to be looking out a window. Needless to say, my husband, who is 6+hrs south of home for work for pretty much indefinately, is majorly stressed about the bathroom, the landscaping, the barn and cattle, never mind his pregnant wife and unborn child. Which in turn, stresses me out. So...here we are...I get to make the decision about the bathroom, hopefully about the landscaping and will not make any decision at all what-so-ever regarding the barn and cattle.
Back to the bathroom...the pedastal sink and toilet are white which in turn means the bathtub will be as well...the walls are white and I intend to have some stenciling done...the question is...what color tile? What neutral is the best neutral?
And nurseries...I have a crib from my sister in law which I intend on using but can't stand the changing table so need to get one of those...does it matter if they don't match?
Oh the trials...
Back to perusing the websites for tile...
Oh, and trying like hell to get my antivirus to update. Argh!

Being a city girl...
has it's advantages. I'm convinced of it. First of all, there isn't 4 acres of lawn to cut. Second of all, there's no hay, any other crop, cows or anything else one might be allergic to to send one into god awful allergies. Third of all, it very well may protect your heart.
I'm not so certain that I'm cut out to be a farm girl despite the fact that I love it here and love the idea of cows and horses and oh yeah, a pot belly pig which I am DETERMINED I will own someday. We've lost 2 calves this week. And it ain't pretty. I'll spare you the icky details but will say this much, they were tiny, probably about 3 weeks premature and well, sick. And there wasn't a damn thing we could do about it. And that feeling pretty much sucks, even when it's not a pet. It makes me want to act like a 5 year old and say, I don't ever want a horse (or a dog, or a cat...)because it hurts too much when they get sick...or I don't ever want to love again because broken hearts suck. However, fortunately for my spouse, I am not a 5 year old and managed NOT to cry, roll around on the ground and kick my feet, however my heart did tug and break just a little...little creatures should be saved from that process as far as I'm concerned. So that was a great end of an already not so hot week...Does anyone have any GOOD news to share? Cuz I could use some!
Enjoy your weekend, I'm going to walk my pup and sleep. A lot. And catch up from the sleepless night last night and the night before...wait, I forgot, you can't make up for lost sleep. Well, I'm going to try to prove them wrong!

Meg tagged me
Ok, here you go, my 2 friends that read my blog (because I don't share it with anyone else so I can't get myself in trouble!)
Here are the rules:
Post 10 random things about yourself .
Choose five people to tag and a reason you chose them and make sure to tell them.
Don’t tag the person who tagged you.
My 10 random things:
-my husband is leaving to go out of town again
-I want to become a personal trainer in my next life
-my husband and I are going to have hopefully 40 head of steer by fall
-I'm going to be designated driver tonight while my friends drink too much
-I'm making a yummy dessert for Easter
-I'm taking a 'family' vacation with my parents, sister & her family this summer, possibly with my husband, possibly not (he's not easy to entertain)
-I have a gut feeling that something big is going to change in our lives in the near future
-I still miss living in the south
-I hate my job and in the process of sortof looking for a new one
-I can't wait to go to the horse show with Kathy in April
My 1 and only tagged person (since Meg tagged me)

Wow, I've been slacking too! More for a lack of interest (ok, fine, call it laziness) versus not having anything to say because well, I always have something to say. In fact, if I DON'T have something to say, then there is probably something not so right in my world.
At any rate....we're going to the Chapel, and we're gonna get married....no, wait, we already did that. How about "Viva Las Vegas"? That's better. We're heading to Vegas tomorrow and all I can say is, it better be freakin' warm since it's 30 degrees BELOW NORMAL today and well, quite frankly, I've had enough. But look at it this way, any improvement is improvement at this point!
And this is my newest godchild, ain't she gorgeous?

I'm off to sit with her for a little bit so her mama can get some well deserved time away, even if it is to go run some errands and take the dogs to the park...
Have a great week all!

Welcome to WI
Love this state. The weatherman wasn't kidding when he said the weather was going to change dramatically as the "arctic air" came through. Of course, the words "arctic air" are very telling, and well, down right scary I think! I had JJ last night and when I left my house with him at 1800, it was 29 degrees out. When I left his mommas house at 1230 and got home to my house, it was -2. When I decided I was going to subject my poor puppy to the elements to do his business, it was -20. And windchill factors of -50. It is so freakin' cold, even the dog didn't want to be out. And some where along the way, a piece of siding fell off the house and is laying in the middle of the yard. I hope that it continues to lay there because I aint' going out in the very near future go get it!
So what am I going to do with my day? It's so windy that the satelite won't pick up so, no TV. In fact, I'm surprised that I was able to get onto the internet. After a while I may go to the gym. And there's plenty of household chores to do, that I just don't feel like doing!
Anyway, stay warm out there!
Addendum: So it's now warmed up so it's only -10. However, that wind...it is blowing so hard that it's drifting snow by the neighbors about 5 feet high. Did I happen to mention that this is in the road by my neighbors?, not in their yard? A bit inconvenient for those wishing to travel the road. Fortunately for me, I 'm not one of those people. I did however go and save the piece of siding from the yard, water the cows (who might I add, don't seem cold in the least, with me in workout pants, sweatpants, windpants, long sleeved shirt, sweatshirt, face mask, stocking cap, hood & carharts...only part of me cold were my eyballs and hands...even gloves don't help in this crap!), vacuumed the living room & office, removed the 6 layers of dust & doghair from the front door, sprayed the couches with Febreeze, spoke with my pregnant girlfriend for an hour (and ordered her baby gifts online), paid bills, filed said bills, cleaned the office closet up a bit and well, am now perusing http://thepioneerwoman.com site which I have to admit, I'm stalking. Love this womans sense of humor, her photos (which put mine to shame!) and the fact that she lives on a ranch with TONS of horses! With that being said, I WILL have horses (ok, maybe that will be singular)by the end of summer! Whew. Now I'm ready for a nap!

Ok, so while I have no picture proof, I can tell you that the picture of the thermometer from before, was nothing compared to this morning. I didn't take a picture because I literally thought my camera might break if I exposed it to the -19 temperature & the -35 windchill factors! Holy cow it was cold, even Ralee didn't want to be out in it as he's prancing 3 legged, switching legs as quickly as possible because he was so cold. I have to admit though, I did have to look at the thermometer twice to ensure it really was almost 20 below zero and not 20 above. I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. But alas, they were not. It is however, a whole wopping -3 now. Gotta love Wisconsin.
Oh, did I mention that was a 60+ degree temperature change from yesterday morning? Who'da thunk it in the dead of winter???

Like Min, I was also scolded about blogging by somebody so here I am! I'm not sure where the last month went to but it's gone and well, it's now the end of January. And Min, no, WI is the frozen tundra, I have proof.
And, it's snowing again. At least it's actually snowing, since the forecast was for sleet and stuff for hours prior to turning to snow. Might I add it was 44 when I got up this morning and tomorrow it's supposed to be -5? We've gotten at least 6 inches of snow every week for the past month. Love Wisconsin!
Anyway, I may very well have the sweetest (albiet MIA) spouse on earth...we had been back and forth about a vehicle, couldn't decide and I flat out decided it wasn't worth my trouble and I'd keep my piece of crap Jetta....was having a really bad day at work and got home and my garage door opener wasn't working so that improved my Friday afternoon tremendously. So I hopped out and opened the door, all the while, cussing and swearing to make a trucker blush and I opened the door and well here is why I couldn't open my garage door. My spot was taken.

Ha, decision made. I love my new vehicle. Could stand to be a bit more green and have better fuel economy but all in all, love it.
Ralee goes in for surgery Thursday for a torn ACL (well, it's just a CL in a dog), good thing he only has 2 knees (which is ironic because I originally thought he was 4 but apparently dogs are like humans & have 2 elbows and 2 knees and thank goodness for all involved, including our bank account, the likelihood of a torn ligament in an elbow isnt' very good!).
Whew...let's see. For those of you who don't know, I'm starting massage therapy school in March. So that's a big change.
Troy hopefully will home for good in a couple of weeks. Well, I use 'for good' loosely, that means for a couple weeks until he goes back to start up the other job in IN. However, at this point, I'll take what I can get.
That's all I've got at this point. Gotta hit the treadmill. Have fun kids!
